Right ... lets get this year started with some colour!
I'm setting only one goal this quarter ... sounds meager, I know, but with two houses up for sale, no sewing space to speak of and an immanent move to our "forever" home ... I may not even manage this ... one ... colourful ... quilt.
So what am I making?
A half hexie quilt in a rainbow of colours!
My hubby wants a quilt. He wants all the colours and he wants it yesterday. He's also 6 foot tall and wants it to cover his body from head to toe. Pfft.
And so I've started by making myself a template and cut, cut, cutting!
Master Michael will need 17 rows across by about 30 down = 510 pieces to cut (gulp).
The pile on the left is what I've cut ... and the pile on the right is ... Goliath.
Yer ... I should have asked for one of those cutting machines from Santa!
Wish me luck!
Serena xx
Linking up with all the other Finish Along peeps for Q1.
You're game making them that size, I think my templates would be at least a fat 8th in size. Good luck with all the house selling and moving.

Hang in there - once all the fabric prep is done I bet this will fly together! The colors are so lovely I can understand why he's super excited. Good luck with your home sales and move.
ReplyDeleteI know what that is like. I am fine making quilts for me (5 ft even) but they only reach the knees of my other half. LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm sucker for rainbow projects. I'm sure this one will be great. Good luck with all what you have going on!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a big quilt (I suppose in this case I'm quite lucky to have a short husband ;) )
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I'm sure it will be amazing, once you get through all of the cutting.
Sounds like a great plan and quilt-to-be! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is 6.45 foot tall, so making him a quilt is a neverending story... ;-)
Cutting is definitely a time consuming part of the process. I love those colors and how impressive you have made your own template!!! This part of the process may be a good fit for you right now. Looking forward to seeing this quilt come together!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be gorgeous and I can't wait to see it grow!
ReplyDeleteLove the choice of fabrics, cannot wait to see the flimsy in progress.
ReplyDeleteLove those rainbow quilts - am excited to see just what this half hexie turns into. I may just have to start cutting soon myself! LOVE your colorful stack! Michael is very lucky!!
ReplyDeleteLove the colours, nice Bright 'N' Shiny! Would brighten up any cloudy day. Gosh! I don't know how you manage to fit it all in Serena. Can't wait to see the beautiful end result!
ReplyDeleteI would put him to work in helping to cut them out!!
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what my 7, nearly 8 year old wants - a rainbow quilt! I don't think I can face that much cutting though!
ReplyDeleteI like Jo's idea - make him help! Still i love the idea and the colours - love a rainbow quilt! It will be gorgeous and worth the effort!
ReplyDeleteWhat a busy time you're having! Great fabrics - have fun!
ReplyDeleteI like how he wants something colourful. Boys can be so frightened of colour.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be fantastic! Can't wait to see it come together.
ReplyDeleteI've lost count of the number of times i've wished for a cutting machine! It would make the process so much quicker!
The quilt is going to be great, I love that your husband wanted all the colours. Good luck, both with the quilt and with the move.
ReplyDeleteWow - this is going to be a fantastic quilt. I hope your hubby appreciates this labour of love. Good luck getting it done - I can't wait to see it!
