It has magical powers and makes my machine sew any seam allowance other than 1/4".
On top of that it makes my printer not print to scale ... and in turn makes me produce a paper pieced star at 12" instead of 12.5".

I sent the 12" block to our Queen Bee this month, along with the others. You never know, it may come in handy on the back .. ahem.

ReplyDeleteWho knew purple was a finicky color!! I like purple but don't really sew with it. I made a purple bee block once. Your blocks look beautiful and I am sure your recipient loves them!! Seems like you made another bee block recently that had some purple too.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for you Serena. Have can you not like purple? Purple and cobalt blue are my favorite colours. If any more comes yur way just post it onto me and I will take care of it for you. I really like the blocks you've made.

ReplyDeleteI have the same relationship with purple.... And have to force myself to use it in quilting. Why does purple have so many hues? Sometimes it looks more red and sometimes it looks more blue.
ReplyDeleteHow much we continue to have in common! And yet, there I was, using purple in my embroidered feathers! Scraps, you know, from a long ago quilt. Good thing you warned Jo!!!

ReplyDeleteI have only recently forced myself to add purple to my stash. I had no purple fabric until one day I decided my ABC quilt elephant needed to be purple. I am sure what happened to you is the colour's fault. :)

ReplyDeleteLove the solids - they look lovely anyway! Maybe if you tried talking nicely to your purple fabric it will grow on you - supposed to work for plants!
ReplyDeleteAs the mother of a purple lover, I have a very good purple stash.
ReplyDeleteI suspect it was possibly that the PDF you printed your paper piecing pattern off that was at fault for the too small star - they like to select the fit to page box for you automatically when it's printing to a4, which is enough to screw it up. Make sure it's set to actual size next time :).
If you ever need to send your purples away in disgrace, you have my address xx

ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of purple either, and i think the only purples i actually use are from AMH, somehow i don't find hers offending. But while you may not be a purple fan either your blocks sure look great!
